Tasty treats and storecupboard essentials

Our sourcing strategy is simple, we stay local wherever possible and that includes buying smoked salmon and homemade preserves that are produced just 30 metres from our shop in Dunkeld. We stock lots of delicious food from Perthshire and the rest of Scotland and then look for really special fine foods from the rest of the UK and beyond. This approach makes sense to us; it reduces food miles and supports local food producers. As we said it’s a simple strategy. Of course we haven’t found a Scottish olive oil producer yet but let us know if you know of one!

Our shops offer a huge amount of produce from all over Scotland – smoked meats, cooked meats, fish, pates, haggis, jams, chutneys, cheese, chocolates, mustards, cakes, biscuits, oatcakes, breads and ice cream. Most are from small artisanal producers who have a story to tell. We also stock a large range of traditional deli produce from all over the world to complement our fabulous Scottish food.

We are particularly proud of our cheese counters, with their very large range of Scottish cheeses alongside international favourites. Our selection is one of the biggest of any deli in Scotland and we are always happy to help customers choose the perfect cheese, with a taster or two along the way.

Needless to say we make all our soups, cakes, scones, quiches, pasties and salads from scratch in our own production kitchen, using the same delicious produce we sell in our shops.

Our retail range of deli produce has been carefully sourced to offer you brilliant quality foods, locally sourced where possible, at the right price.

Here are a few highlights from our current range – and if there’s something you would like to see on our shelves please let us know.

Chutneys, Honeys and Jams

Sarah Gray’s Handmade Preserves - Jams and Marmalade made in the family kitchen in Angus in small batches using locally sourced ingredients.

Laird’s Inn Preserves – handmade preserves, jams and chutneys, including the inimitable Highland Perthshire Sauce, and our favourite Lemon Curd, all produced by Niall McNab literally a stone’s throw from our Dunkeld shop.

Young’s Preserves – our friend Lesley produces interesting and unusual preserves, made using mainly her own home-grown vegetables, down the road in the village of Bankfoot. Everything is prepared by hand, and Lesley says that patience is required as most products improve with keeping. Her Sweet Piccalilli has a dedicated following locally.

Heather Hills Farm Honey – Award-winning Perthshire honey which is collected and extracted using traditional methods. We also stock small batches of very local honey, when we can get our hands on it.

Our range of oatcakes and crackers is almost as large as the selection of cheese you can buy to go with them.
